The 89th Legislature wrapped up earlier this year and new laws are in effect. We’re excited to share two new resources that have been added to our Advocacy Tools page:
- Guide to Speaking at a School Board Meeting - This document provides members with information regarding steps to help you effectively participate in school board meetings and advocate for the needs of students and schools.
- Support Staff Retention Allotment Guidance - This document provides Texas school psychologists with essential information regarding the Support Staff Retention Allotment (SSRA), established through House Bill 2 (HB 2), and offers actionable strategies for advocating for salary increases.

Clarification on title use following TSBEP meeting
September 19th, 2025
TASP has received questions regarding the official change in professional licensure for school psychologists. Some confusion has arisen as licensees have ordered new licenses which indicate "Licensed School Psychologist." The Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP) met on September 18th, 2025 and clarified the title/letters allowed for use as professionals. In a direct quote from the meeting at the 2:50:00 mark of the official recording:
"I want to make clear, I want the public and...the licensed psychologists and the school psychologists, I want everyone to understand if you are a practicing school psychologist you can use the title, right now, regardless of this change, right now you can use the title Licensed School Psychologist, you can use the School Psychologist, or you could use LSP. Those are the three titles...that are fine."
We hope this information helps provide clarity. We thank the TSBEP for providing this clear guidance on this legislative and regulatory update.
